Zhang Yilun

Yilun Zhang is a research associate at the Institute for China-America Studies. His key area of research pertains to the U.S.-China relations, Maritime Affairs, and Security in East Asia. His research specialization includes: U.S.-China great power competition, analysis of major power relationships in East Asia (China-U.S., China-Japan, China-South Korea, U.S.-Japan, U.S.-South Korea, Japan-South Korea), geospatial analysis of the security dynamics in Asia-Pacific and the Arctic. He studied Japanese for seven years as his primary foreign language, and three years of French in college. He holds master’s degree in international relations with a concentration on international pollical economy from the Paul Nizte School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University. His bachelor’s degree was awarded by the American University.
